
JANICA LANE is a Principal at PCGA, where she is primarily responsible for leading transaction processes and sourcing opportunities with new partner companies. Her work has spanned a range of industries, and she is particularly interested in businesses in the healthy food; direct-to-consumer; vitamin, mineral & supplement; and personal care/beauty categories. She joined PCGA in 2006.
Janica’s prior professional experience includes both academia and Wall Street. She was a researcher at Stanford University’s prestigious Center for Environmental Science and Policy (CESP), where she studied climate change with some of the nation’s leading experts in the field and co-authored numerous chapters and articles appearing in scientific journals and books. She also co-authored a book on lymphoma and the US healthcare system titled The Patient from Hell. Prior to CESP, Janica was an Equity Research Associate on Prudential Securities’ energy team, where she covered the large-cap oil companies. She helped build the energy team from three members to 10 and oversaw two direct reports. Her team was consistently ranked in the top three in the sector by Institutional Investor magazine.
Janica has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she graduated in the top 25% of her class. She received dual B.A. degrees (International Relations & Spanish) with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Stanford University. She spent six months living in Santiago, Chile, as part of her undergraduate education and is fluent in Spanish.
Janica has been an athlete for most of her life, beginning with 10 years as a competitive gymnast, followed by participation in volleyball and track & field. Today, she is an avid runner and marathoner, and is particularly passionate about trail running, having placed in a number of local trail events. She also enjoys traveling, gardening, hiking, fishing, and spending time with her family in Sonoma County.
